Manyora: Kalonzo messed up in response to Gachagua’s remarks on Nairobi pact
Seasoned political analyst Herman Manyora has come out to explain how Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka messed up after clapping back at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over remarks he made about his party’s pact with Wiper and the united opposition parties in Nairobi.
Speaking during an interview on his channel on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, Manyora termed Kalonzo’s move—where he publicly denied any agreement with the DCP party, contrary to Gachagua’s earlier claims—as a “disaster” and an unnecessary escalation that created a second crisis on top of the one Gachagua had already sparked.

“If Kalonzo has responded to it, then it’s a disaster. They are in a hole, and they are digging. They say, when you are in a hole, you stop digging, but Kalonzo continued.”
According to Manyora, it was unwise for Kalonzo to respond the way he did. He argued that it would have been better if Kalonzo had kept quiet or found a more diplomatic way to navigate the matter, since his reaction painted the united opposition in a bad light and signalled disunity and emerging cracks within the formation.
He went on to urge the united opposition’s recently appointed spokesman, Mukhisa Kituyi, to handle such disputes internally, warning that public confrontations risk damaging the formation’s image. Manyora emphasised that the united opposition must remain organised, structured, and united as it moves forward.
Gachagua’s claims
This comes after Gachagua stated that almost all of the political seats in 2027 will belong to the DCP party, saying that the party had an agreement with Wiper.

These statements came shortly after DCP’s victory in the Kariobangi North Ward by-election on November 28, 2025, where their candidate, David Wanyoike Warui, won with 2,282 votes.
Gachagua stated that they have agreed with the Wiper party that the governor, senator and woman rep seats will all belong to DCP. With 17 MP seats, Gachagua said that 16 will be from DCP and 1 from Wiper. Out of the 85 ward rep positions, 75 will be from his party.
Kalonzo Musyoka came afterwards, dismissing such talks, saying that there is no agreement between Wiper and DCP over ownership of Nairobi seats in 2027
