Makueni senator Dan Maanzo reveals details of his meeting with Ruto
By Mabonga Makhanu, November 12, 2025Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo has revealed details of his meeting with President William Ruto upon his arrival in the county for a four-day development tour.
While speaking in Makueni on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, the senator, who is an ally of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and has been critical of the state, stated that he finally found answers to what had been disturbing him. He mentioned that he had been having a hard time engaging with Cabinet Secretaries, but according to Maanzo, the President answered all the questions he had been asking.
Dan Maanzo stated that he held talks with the President, where he welcomed him to the county together with Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. The President, according to Maanzo, outlined his development roadmap for Makueni County, which includes the completion of all stalled projects, such as the Thwake Dam and Makueni Stadium, among others.
He further concluded by thanking the President and welcoming him to the county.
“Leo pale kwa affordable housing tumeangaliana macho kwa macho na rais, nikauliza ile maswali, nimekuwa nimeshinda nikiuliza mawaziri yake akaniambia thwake dam sawa, hata Waziri Duale mtamona hapa, ndio tutatuwe shida za watu wetu,” Maanzo said.
Maanzo was among the leaders allied to Kalonzo who accompanied President Ruto during his visit to the Ukambani region. The host Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior, also accompanied the head of state
Both of the two top leaders from Makueni were previously part of Kalonzo’s entourage that visited Opoda Farm to pay tribute to the late Raila Odinga and have been critical of the Ruto-led regime.
They had also skipped the Mashujaa Day celebrations held at Ithookwe Stadium, Kitui County, on Monday, October 20, 2025, leaving the host governor, Julius Malombe, to preside over the occasion alone.
Kilonzo’s plea to Ruto
President William ruto hailed Makueni governor, who, despite his political affiliation, decided to join ruto in his tour around the county.
Ruto urged the governor not to rely on anybody’s permission if he wants to work with him
Junior had asked the president to help facilitate a number of key projects in Makueni.
Ruto’s reply appeared to be a subtle message aimed at Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who has long been Kilonzo Junior’s political godfather. President Ruto emphasised that the governor does not need approval from anyone, including his party leader, to collaborate with him.
