Makau Mutua chides Gachagua over Wiper-DCP Nairobi power sharing deal in 2027
President William Ruto’s senior advisor, Makau Mutua, has laughed off the Nairobi County power-sharing pact between the Wiper Patriotic Front Party, led by former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), under Rigathi Gachagua in 2027.
Gachagua was speaking on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at PCEA Kariobangi North Church, during a thanksgiving service organised to celebrate the victory of David Warui, the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) candidate.

The former Deputy President stated that Warui clinching the Kariobangi North Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat in the Thursday, November 27, 2025, by-election held on Thursday, is a testament that DCP is a Nairobi party.
Nairobi is for DCP!
”DCP is a party for Nairobi, and this is the beginning of our politics in this city. We have agreed with the Wiper leader, who has been assisting the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), that the gubernatorial, senatorial and women representative seats will be taken by DCP,” Rigathi Gachagua said.

”We have also agreed that in 17 elective positions, DCP will take 16. And in between 85 Ward seats, DCP will take 75, so do not be intimidated,” Gachagua said on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at PCEA Church Kariobangi North,” he added.
However, Mutua has laughed off the particular power-sharing agreement, saying it will be an uphill task for Gachagua to deliver in Nairobi after failing to influence the electorate in the recently concluded by-election in Mbeere North.
Ironical deal
”Wamunyoro says Kalonzo Musyoka has given up all of Nairobi to Murima. Governor, Senator, Women’s Rep. ALL OF IT, including almost ALL MPs and MCAs. Just like that — without firing a single shot, even from a musket,” Mutua took to X on Monday, December 1, 2025.
Makau Mutua instead asked the Akamba community to retrace their steps and consider working with Rigathi Gachagua’s DCP party ahead of the 2027 general election, where Kalonzo Musyoka is eyeing the presidency.

”In Kenya’s ethnic politics, the Akamba must go back to the drawing board. A “general” goes down fighting, not with a whimper! Think about this — SKM gives the whole store to Wamunyoro even after the man from Mathira proved beyond doubt that he can’t win a thing in the Mountain. Sad!” Mutua added.
Meanwhile, aside from Nairobi politics, Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka and other United Opposition bigwigs have vowed to stick together in a bid to make President William Ruto a one-term Head of State.
