‘Wewe ndiye mwenye mlima’ – Lari MP assures Ruto amid fallout with Gachagua
Amid the feeling of a fallout between President William Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, Lari Member of Parliament Mburu Kahangara has assured the president that his Mount Kenya support is intact.
Political observers and pundits have wondered whether Ruto and Gachagua are reading from the same script following recent murmurs within the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
In fact, Gachagua found himself trading words with Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi following the former’s trip to Eldoret last weekend and what he said.
The exchange of words drew the attention of the party’s secretary-general, Cleophas Malala, who asked members, including Sudi himself, Kipchumba Murkomen, Muthoni Wamuchomba, and Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, to respect their bosses and desist from politics.
Meanwhile, Kahangara, who recalled how the Mount Kenya region went against former President Uhuru Kenyatta and overwhelmingly delivered votes for Ruto, said the support remains undivided.
Kahangara spoke during an interdenominational church service at Amatula Stadium in Kimilili, Bungoma County, that the Head of State attended.
Unity
The legislator also lauded Ruto for what he said was a good job done while uniting the country.
“Mimi nimesimama nikiwa na ujube moja, kwamba mnapo tuona hapa katika katiba ya Kenya, Chapter 13 inasema kwamba the president is a symbol of national unity. Na katika kazi zake inasema kwamba ‘he is going to promote the unity of all kenyans. He is going to promote and respect the diversity of ya kabila zote katika Kenya’,” the MP from Kiambu County said.
Political brotherhood and chemistry between Ruto and Gachagua will continue to be observed keenly, especially the president’s latest call to MPs to traverse the country, utterances that contradict the DP’s call while in Uasin Gishu.
