Kindiki warns of renewed push by rivals backing one-term narrative

The Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged Kenyans to be wary of political leaders, who he claims are out to exploit the public for personal gain.
Speaking on Friday, July 4, 2025, during the Malindi Constituency Economic Empowerment meeting at Jilore Grounds in Kilifi County, Kindiki said the country’s political landscape now pits development-focused leaders against those bent on sowing division.
He said the amity between President William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga under a broad-based arrangement had set the country firmly on the path to progress.
“We have united under the broad-based government. We are one team focused on development and taking Kenya forward. This is a team driven by Kazi Bila Break,” Kindiki told the rally.
He scoffed at leaders in the opposing camp, describing them as clueless and preoccupied with outdated, personality-driven politics.
“The other team is clueless. When asked what they plan to do for Kenyans, they say Kasongo one term, Ruto Must Go and other things. That cannot be a manifesto on how to lead Kenya. All of them have failed in their previous jobs,” he said.
The DP maintained that the Kenya Kwanza administration remains committed to equitable development across all regions, unlike their rivals, who he accused of pushing a discriminatory agenda.
Later, while addressing residents at the Kilifi North Economic Empowerment event in Chumani, Kindiki outlined key projects the government has rolled out to boost livelihoods at the Coast.
He said the administration had, in just two years, completed hundreds of development projects and launched several others in line with its national transformation plan.
“We are improving critical sectors to ensure most Kenyans receive higher income. The agriculture, livestock, fishing and blue economy sectors are at the centre of the country’s economy and relied on by the majority of Kenyans, and we have improved them significantly,” he noted.

Buckling for 2027
He stressed that Kenyans are more concerned with service delivery than political posturing.
“We are working from Monday to Monday, January to December. This is what this team is all about. We are not interested in anything else that is not of help to wananchi,” Kindiki said.
He revealed that Beach Management Units (BMUs) across the five coastal counties had received over Sh3.2 billion in grants to support business growth and minimise post-harvest losses.
He added that the government was set to issue deep-sea fishing boats to local fishermen.
“The Blue Economy Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho has been instructed by the President to hasten acquisition to enable them to make forays in the deep sea and make bigger catches that will bring them more money,” he said.
Kindiki also highlighted the construction of modern markets across Kilifi County, including Shela, Jua Kali, Mazeras, Mtwapa and Watamu.
“This is the first government to invest heavily in the blue economy in a bid to make it more lucrative. We have completed the first fish landing site located at Kichwa cha Kati, and another one is coming up in Kilifi town, with more lined up,” he said.
