Kindiki threatens a fierce battle after Kalonzo rejects his advances

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has warned Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka that if he keeps spreading falsehoods, he will respond directly.
In a statement posted on his official X account on Sunday, June 15, 2025, Kindiki addressed recent comments by Kalonzo, who had strongly rejected any possibility of working with the Kenya Kwanza government. Kalonzo had described the current administration as a “blood-based regime” and distanced himself from what he called attempts to “sanitise injustice” using his name.
“I hear my big brother Kalonzo has said he doesn’t wish to work with me politically. That is fine with me,” Kindiki began in his post. “For the unkind things he has said about me, I won’t answer him back publicly, not because I can’t, but because I never do public duels with people I respect.”
However, the deputy president added that respect goes both ways.
“If he continues with his falsehoods unprovoked, I will happily tackle him head-on,” he warned.

Kalonzo’s sharp remarks came a day after Kindiki appeared to extend an olive branch while speaking at an event in Wote, Makueni County. The DP had said he was ready to engage Kalonzo for consultations on development in the region and referred to him as a respected elder and “senior-in-law.”
“I will look for him, as you have tasked me to do so,” Kindiki told locals. “We do not want him to be misled by those keen to destabilise the country through divisive and tribal politics.”

Kalonzo rejects unity talks
In response, Kalonzo dismissed the approach as insincere and politically calculated.
“I will never work with this blood-based regime,” Kalonzo wrote on his own X account on Sunday, June 15, 2025. “Let no one be misled by those peddling falsehoods and attempting to use my name to sanitise injustice.”
Earlier on Sunday June 15, 2025, Kalonzo had accused the government of having the blood of Gen Z protesters on its hands, particularly that of Albert Ojwang, a young man who was killed during recent demonstrations.
“This is all diversionary and a poor attempt to divide the United Opposition,” Kalonzo stated. “I cannot work with or meet up with people with Gen Z blood on their hands.”
Kalonzo had also announced that Tuesday, 25 June 2025, would be observed as a “solemn day” to honour those killed in protests.
Kindiki, while keeping a firm tone, ended his statement by emphasising that development will proceed regardless of political differences. “The Government’s development agenda for all the people of this nation will continue undeterred irrespective of who is working with who for whatever objective,” he said.
