Kindiki leads Ksh8M fundraiser in Lari as region’s politics shape up

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has intensified his calls to the Mount Kenya region for support in the 2027 General Election, noting that President William Ruto has done a lot for the region.
Presiding over a fund drive in Lari Constituency, where he made a stop to empower small-scale traders in the area, Kindiki gave out a personal donation of Ksh2 million and further promised Ksh1.2 million.
Ruto’s Ksh3M donation
During the fund drive, Kindiki equally brought a Ksh3 million donation from President William Ruto and Ksh1 million from Lari MP Mburu Kahangara.
Other leaders who raised Ksh500,000 at the event were Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah, who is currently out of the country, Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, and Narok West MP Gabriel Tongoyo, who is the National Assembly chairperson of the committee on Interior and National Security.
The meeting was attended by various principal secretaries and regional MPs who gave out Ksh100,000 donations. They include Energy PS Alex Wachira, Petroleum PS Mohamed Liban and Wildlife PS Silvia Museiya.
The other leaders who donated Ksh100,000 in Lari are Limuru MP Chege Kiragu, Kiambaa MP Njuguna Wanjiku, Elijah Kururia (Gatundu North), Kiambu Woman Representative Anne Muratha, Kabete MP Kamau Wamacukuru, Kiambu Town MP John Machua, Ruiru MP Simon King’ara and Gatundu South MP Gabriel Kagombe, who donated Ksh200,000.
Kindiki equally promised to build a Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Lari and commission a Ksh50 million water project in the constituency.
Support Kenya Kwanza
He urged the locals to embrace the Kenya-Kwanza administration, noting that his visits to the region will continue.
“Tomorrow I will be in Kisii and Kakamega before I come back here,” Kindiki stated.
During the meeting, Kindiki paraded a section of government officials from the region appointed by Ruto, noting that leaders stating otherwise are misleading the Mount Kenya region.

The visit comes in the wake of the launch of the Democracy for Citizens (DCP) Party by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, an outfit he seeks to consolidate the region’s vote ahead of the 2027 polls.
“Kenyans have boldly told us they have a solution to the problems facing them. Kenyans have asked us to start a party which will form a government by the people for the people,” Gachagua said during the launch on May 15, 2025.
Gachagua expects to form alliances with like-minded regional leaders and party leaders from across the nation to come up with a single presidential candidate to battle it out with Ruto in 2027.
