‘Azimio is dead, Kenya Kwanza is shaky’ – Kibwana says demise of today’s coalitions is certain, puts hope on Gen Zs
Former Makueni County Governor Kivutha Kibwana has put his hope in Gen Zs over what he claims as certain demise of modern day political coalitions.
Kibwana through his official X account on Sunday, July 28, 2024, argued that the Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition party is dead following the exit of its 2022 General Election flag bearers.
Kibwana on Azimio death
He argues that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga seems to have exited the coalition following his dalliance with President William Ruto, which has seen the Orange party land four slots in Cabinet.
Kibwana has also pointed out that the exit of Raila’s running mate, Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua and the absence of Azimio chairperson, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, left the coalition dead.
“With Azimio 2022 flagbearers Raila Odinga and Martha Karua out of the coalition, and the Chair Uhuru Kenyatta absent, AZIMIO is dead,” Kibwana argued.
Kibwana’s hope in Gen Zs
Kibwana also noted that the President Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza Alliance is currently shaky.
According to him, it is now the right time for the Gen Zs and progressives to reinvent Kenya.
“KKA itself is shaky. Demise of today’s Coalitions is certain. Time for GENZIIs and Progressives to reimagine/reinvent Kenya. May #KenyansArise,” Kibwana said in a statement posted on his official X account.

Kibwana has been supporting the Gen Z movement, which the young people in Kenya have been using to demand accountability in government.
Kibwana on progressives
On July 25, 2024, Kibwana counted Martha Karua, Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah, gospel musician Reuben Kigame, Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot, political analyst Gitobu Imanyara, and politician Kabando Wa Kabando as progressives who should mentor and pass the baton to the Gen Zs.
“When all is said and done, I count Martha Karua, Okiya Omtatah, Reuben Kigame, Ekuru Aukot, Gitobu Imanyara, Kabando wa Kabando and many more as progressive. These should mentor and pass the baton to #GenZii,” Kibwana stated.
