Interior Affairs Permanent Secretary Karanja Kibicho has asked security forces not to arrest politicians found breaking the law until after the August 9 general election.

The PS said that he made the order after finding out that most politicians deliberately break the law so that they can be arrested to obtain sympathy votes from the electorate, a behaviour he says the government cannot entertain.

Kibicho, therefore, noted that those politicians who have been found engaging in illegal activities at the moment will have to wait until September to face the law.

“We have seen some of the politicians openly teasing the government and breaking the law so that they can get arrested. We are waiting until September so that we can look into their cases,” stated Kibicho.

The PS, however, asked politicians to stop inciting Kenyans to cause chaos and hatred during the electioneering period.

Kibicho also rubbished claims made by some UDA allied politicians that he was dishing out money to the youth to disrupt Deputy President William Ruto’s campaign rallies.

He, therefore, asked the politicians to keep off his name and that of Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i from their mouths and focus on selling their agenda to the people.

“They claim that I have money stashed in cartons in a room within my office. I invite them to my office to share the funds,” Kibicho added.
