Karua rallies youth in Kiambu, calls for bold leadership ahead of 2027
Martha Karua has called on young leaders to step forward and take charge of the country’s future, saying meaningful change will only come through bold and principled leadership.
Speaking in Gachie, Kiambu County on Saturday, April 18, 2026, the People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader and presidential candidate urged a growing group of youth aspirants to actively participate in reshaping the nation’s political direction ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Karua insists that Kenya’s transformation will not happen by chance but through deliberate effort by leaders willing to take responsibility.

“Power is not taken. It is claimed by those prepared to lead. Today in Gachie, Kiambu County, Party leader and presidential candidate Martha Karua stood not above the people but firmly among them, grounded, resolute, and speaking directly to the conscience of a rising generation,” PLP stated in a post in X account.
“Her message was both a challenge and a summons: Kenya will not change by chance; it will change when bold, principled leaders choose to take responsibility for its future.”
2027 as turning point
Karua asked Kenyans to think about where the country is today, pointing to the high levels of corruption, high taxation, misuse of public resources and declining standards in key sectors including education and healthcare.

“A country burdened by entrenched corruption, overtaxation, unchecked looting, reckless wastage of public resources, collapsing education and health services, and the tragic loss of innocent lives under a rogue system cannot afford silence or indifference. The choice before the nation is stark, and 2027 must become a turning point,” Karua noted.
Karua stated her party’s commitment to developing a new generation of leaders inspired by integrity, service, and courage, saying young aspirants have an important role to play in rebuilding public trust.
“A new generation, guided by principle and courage, can restore dignity, accountability, and hope to leadership. We are not merely spectators to this change. We are its architects, walking side by side with those bold enough to rise,” Karua stated.
