Martha Karua has intensified her independent political push in Kirinyaga County, with her People’s Liberation Party (PLP).

In a statement on Thursday, April 23, 2026, amid weeks of absence from the United Opposition’s joint activities, PLP framed Karua’s leadership as distinct and grounded in principle.

In a strongly worded statement, the party signaled a shift toward a solo campaign strategy, urging Kirinyaga residents to back Karua’s leadership based on her record rather than political alliances.

“The people of Kirinyaga do not need confusion to recognize leadership, they only need clarity,” the statement read, adding that Karua’s direction draws a clear line “between substance and illusion.”
