Kaluma takes swipe at ODM rebels in fresh attack on Babu, Sifuna and Orengo
Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Kaluma has launched an attack on a section of Linda Mwananchi leaders, accusing them of abandoning the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and misreading the country’s political direction.
In an X statement on Friday, May 29, 2026, Kaluma appeared to target Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, and Siaya Governor James Orengo over their recent criticism of the government and perceived distancing from ODM’s leadership.

“Babu, Sifuna, Orengo, the message is home! You left ODM thinking these guys would vote for you. Babu is gone even as they continue to inflate and fatten empty Sifuna before slaughter! Mtajua hamjui,” Kaluma stated.
DCP’s remarks on Nairobi seats
According to the legislator, it was suggested that the trio had miscalculated their political influence after allegedly shifting away from the party’s core leadership and support base.
These remarks follow the recent comments by the DCP party leader, Rigathi Gachagua, who revealed that Nairobi would form the base of his party’s growth and revealed details of a deal between DCP and Wiper for the 2027 polls.
“Mimi niseme watu ya Kariobangi asanteni sana. DCP is the party for Nairobi. Na hii ndio chanzo ya siasa yetu hapa Nairobi. Na sisi tumepangana vizuri na kiongozi wa Wiper, ambaye ndiye amekuwa akisaidia ODM hapa Nairobi,” he said.
He then outlined the specific positions agreed upon between the two parties.
“Tumekubaliana kiti cha governor kitachukuliwa na DCP. Kiti cha senator kitachukuliwa na DCP. Kiti cha Women’s Rep kitachukuliwa na DCP. Tumekubaliana na Wiper kati ya viti kumi na saba, kati ya DCP na Wiper, tutachukua viti kumi na sita. Na kati ya viti themanini na tano, between DCP and Wiper, tutachukua 75.”
Nairobi seats
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has outlined his political plan, announcing that he will contest for Nairobi governor, serve only one term, and later vie for the presidency in 2032.

Speaking in Kisumu on April 26, 2026, during activities linked to the Linda Mwananchi movement, Owino said, “Mimi kama Babu naenda Nairobi governorship term moja kisha 2032, ntaenda presidency.”
Edwin Sifuna is also aiming at defending the Senate seat ahead of the 2027 polls.
