Kalonzo, Wamalwa visit Tuju at Karen Hospital and share his recovery update
Opposition leaders Kalonzo Musyoka and Eugene Wamalwa have visited former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju, who is admitted at the Karen Hospital.
In a post on his official X account on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, Kalonzo shared details of Tuju’s recovery.
“Together with Hon. Eugene Wamalwa, Adv. Ndegwa Njiru, and others, we visited Hon. Raphael Tuju at Karen Hospital, Nairobi,” Kalonzo said.
According to Kalonzo, Tuju is in a critical condition and is currently undergoing scans to assess spinal damage.
Kalonzo has accused the police officers of inflicting spinal injuries on Tuju by forcibly bundling him into the police Subaru.
He further raised concerns over Tuju’s conditions, saying that he is under police watch even as he receives treatment.
“He is in critical condition, undergoing scans to assess spinal damage; injuries inflicted when police officers forcibly bundled him into their Subaru. Disturbingly, Hon Tuju remains under police watch even as he receives treatment,” he added.
“We thank the Karen Hospital team for their exemplary care, and we stand firmly with Hon. Tuju until his full recovery,” he explained.

Kalonzo speaks on Tuju’s health
Kalonzo has also claimed that former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju was effectively “abducted” inside a police station even as his health rapidly deteriorated.
Speaking outside the Kibera Law Courts on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, where he was leading Tuju’s legal team, Kalonzo said he personally witnessed what he described as a troubling sequence of events at Karen Police Station.
“I witnessed first-hand abduction at the police station,” Kalonzo said. “All we were trying to say is that Tuju has been a recovering patient following a terrible road accident.”
Tuju was arrested on Monday and booked at Karen Police Station after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) accused him of staging his own abduction.
Kalonzo narrated Tuju’s condition while in custody, saying doctors had to be called in urgently to attend to him inside the police cells.
“I must thank the officer in charge at the police station because he allowed doctors from Karen Hospital to come in and examine him inside the police cell,” Kalonzo said.
According to Kalonzo, the attending doctor raised alarm over Tuju’s deteriorating health.
“The examining doctor said the sugar level was at 1.9. This is what made me lose my cool,” he said. “At some point the doctor said in five minutes we could lose him because of the very low sugar level.”
