Kalonzo-led Loyal People Coalition backed to steer Kenya’s political rebirth

Yatta Member of Parliament (MP) Robert Ngui Basil has vouched for the new Loyal People Coalition to herald a rebirth of Kenya’s politics and governance.
Mbui’s sentiments come in the wake of former Interior Minister Fred Matiangi’s meeting with opposition figures, including Kalonzo Musyoka, Rigathi Gachagua, and Martha Karua, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
Speaking during a live TV interview on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, the Wiper MP backed the team to leverage their experience in politics and amply address the concerns of Kenyans.
Notably, he referenced the Matiang’i, whom he referenced during his tenure in both the ministries of Education and Interior.
“This team has the interest of the country. It is a clear indication that a rebirth of the country is up and coming. These gentlemen and a lady are people of different scorecards.

“For instance, Matiangi’s call to join came from Kenyans. Remember, he fixed the education system during his time as the cabinet secretary for education, and for the first time in history, exam rigging was mitigated. That is also the time when our education system was upheld.
“We never had an education recruitment paper being distributed in rallies as we have seen recently. These are the issues that made the young people want to have someone who can make a change,“ he said.
The MP’s sentiments come after former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, was spotted in a meeting gathering of the prominent political figures, fueling talks of potential realignments ahead of the 2027 general election.
The Jubilee Party, on Thursday, February 20, 2025, endorsed Matiang’i as the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 elections as the race for the 2027 succession politics began taking shape.
During the meeting, Martha Karua and Gachagua welcomed Matiangi, Justin Muturi, Mithika Linturi, and Mukhisa Kituyi, hinting at joining forces with them at the People’s Loyal Coalition.

Other leaders present during the Tuesday, April 29, 2025, meeting include People’s Liberation Party leader Martha Karua, Democratic Action Party leader Eugene Wamalwa, former Public Service CS Justin Muturi, former Agriculture CS Mintika Linturi, and Mukhisa Kituyi.
“The team to liberate Kenya gets bigger every day. Welcome, Fred Matiangi, Hon. JB Muturi, and Hon. Mithika Linturi. You are on the right side of history,” Gachagua posted.
“A very good morning and welcome onboard. This is the team that will komboa Kenya,” Kalonzo said.
The meeting came just over a fortnight after former Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa hinted at a grand strategy by the opposition-allied politicians to dethrone President William Ruto.
Speaking during an interview with a local TV station on Monday, April 14, 2025, Wamalwa revealed the work behind the scenes to build a strong and united political coalition against Ruto.
“I want to tell Kenyans not to lose hope. We are working on a coalition that will send Zakayo home. It’s the way to go because a divided opposition doesn’t,” Wamalwa remarked, underscoring the importance of unity in defeating what he described as a highly strategic and politically adept incumbent.
