Justina Wamae explain her reservations on march to State House calls

Former Roots Party presidential running mate Justina Wamae has dismissed calls by a section of the youth who have been claiming they will march to State House and remove President William Ruto from office.
Speaking during a morning show on K24 TV on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, Wamae maintained that such actions are not only unrealistic but also dangerous, warning that any attempt to remove the president through unlawful means could lead to unnecessary bloodshed.
She emphasised that the only legitimate way to remove a sitting president is through constitutional means such as impeachment.
According to her, calls to storm the State House are misguided and risk plunging the country into chaos.
Wamae further questioned the ongoing narrative of “Ruto must go”, urging those pushing for change to follow the right legal and constitutional procedures.
She noted that any effort to forcefully remove the president would only escalate tensions and potentially result in the loss of lives.
“I have always questioned why we say Ruto must go. The only way he should go is through the right process that is constitutional. Maybe he should be impeached. Saying we are going to get him out of the Statehouse, then it becomes an issue of loss of life.” Justina Wamae said.

Focus on 2027 elections
This comes days after calling upon Gen Zs to withdraw from demonstrations and focus on the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at a local TV station on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Wamae noted that the Kenyan youths did not vote during the past general elections.
“As the country is, it’s time to withdraw and retreat and focus on matters of 2027. In most general elections, youths do not vote; they say their votes are going to be stolen,” she stated.
She has urged the youths to register as voters and volunteer in the parties of their choice as party agents to prevent the rigging of votes.
“The strategy should change towards registering as a voter, looking for a political party you support, and volunteering as a party agent to protect the votes,” she added.
Additionally, she noted that withdrawing from the streets will prevent more deaths after the Saba Saba commemorations led to the loss of 31 people.
“Gen Zs should keep off demonstrations to prevent more deaths and loss of property. I think the solution is for the genuine Gen Zs to keep off protests for now so that the goons lack the space to join them,” she stated.
