Amisi denies telling Sifuna he cannot defeat Ruto in 2027
Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has dismissed as fake reports circulating on social media claiming he warned Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna that defeating President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election would be impossible.
Amisi responded through his official Facebook page on Monday, June 30, 2026, after a graphic widely shared online attributed remarks to him suggesting Sifuna should instead concentrate on defending his Senate seat.

The viral graphic quoted Amisi as saying:
“Who is lying that he will remove William Ruto from office? That is the biggest lie of the year.
“What I can advise Sifuna is just to defend his senatorial seat, which will also be difficult for him to retain. President Ruto is no joke. Ask even Kalonzo; he will tell you the truth.“
However, the legislator rejected the quotation in its entirety.
“Ignore the fake news by enemies of progress. We are committed to sending the rogue regime home. Kenya Needs A Renaissance!” Amisi wrote.
His response comes amid growing political debate over the direction of the Linda Mwananchi movement, with recent developments fuelling public discussion about whether its leaders remain united on the best strategy to challenge President Ruto in the 2027 presidential election.
Caleb Amisi stands with Sifuna
Amisi’s latest statement is consistent with his recent public declarations backing Sifuna for the presidency.
On June 28, the Saboti MP declared that the Nairobi senator remained his preferred presidential candidate.

“It must be very clear to naysayers that the only person I will support for president of the Republic of Kenya in 2027 is Edwin Sifuna.”
He added that his position would only change if Sifuna opted against running for the presidency.
“If he does not vie and choose to support the same old guards we want to remove from the political scene, then there will be some breaking news!”
Amisi further stated that he remained committed to generational change in Kenya’s leadership.
“We must achieve the call of our generation na sio tafadhali.”
“I have been very consistent on my call for generational change, and I will not back down to please some egos.”
Earlier, on June 13, 2026, the MP also argued that opposition leaders should rally behind Sifuna.
“If truly you want change, Gachagua and Kalonzo must support Sifuna’s presidency. We will send Ruto home and achieve generational change at the same time.”

Debate over opposition unity
Amisi’s clarification comes as the Linda Mwananchi movement continues to attract scrutiny over its political direction.
While Sifuna has remained one of the movement’s most prominent figures, Amisi has in recent weeks publicly spoken about launching the Renaissance Movement, saying Linda Mwananchi had deviated from its original mission.
