Safina Party leader and businessman Jimmy Wanjigi has paid a courtesy call to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at his Wamunyoro residence, where the two held consultations on the country’s political future and the formation of a new administration.

In a statement issued by Gachagua on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, after the meeting, Gachagua said the discussions formed part of his ongoing consultations with various leaders and stakeholders as efforts to shape what he described as the country’s “liberation cause” gather momentum.

“Pleased to have held consultations with businessman Jimmy Wanjigi, who called on me at the Wamunyoro residence,” Gachagua said.

The former deputy president further emphasised that the process of building what he referred to as the sixth administration requires broad engagement and the inclusion of diverse perspectives.

“The liberation cause of our country and the formation of the sixth administration are so critical that we must get views from all,” he stated.

Gachagua further noted that he had greatly benefited from Wanjigi’s insights and experience in the formation of governments, underscoring the value of drawing on seasoned political and governance perspectives.

Gachagua’s retreat at Wamunyoro

The meeting comes as Gachagua continues to intensify consultations with political leaders, professionals, and other key stakeholders amid ongoing realignments in Kenya’s political landscape ahead of the next general election in 2027.

The Democracy for the Citizens party leader indicated that the engagement process is ongoing, signalling that more meetings with influential figures are expected in the coming days as political alignments continue to take shape.

The visit comes as the former deputy president continues his 45-day engagement at his residence after halting public rallies for the united opposition to give room for engagements and consultations.
