Inside United Opposition’s Sunday itinerary as Western tour enters homestretch

By , June 14, 2026

The United Opposition’s Western Kenya political tour has entered its final stretch, with leaders set to make a series of stopovers across key towns as they intensify efforts to consolidate support ahead of their next phase of national engagements.

The tour, which has drawn large crowds across the region, is expected to conclude on Sunday, June 14, 2026, after a final round of rallies in Kibabii, Chwele, Kitale Town, Kiminini, Naitiri, and Misikhu, where the United Opposition leaders are expected to address supporters and outline their political agenda.

The campaign trail is expected to begin its final leg in Kibabii, a key education and community hub in Bungoma County, before proceeding to Chwele.

Thereafter, leaders will then head to Naitiri and Misikhu, both of which have historically played important roles in regional political mobilisation.

Afterwards, the leaders are expected to make stops in Kitale town, the economic heart of Trans Nzoia County, where a major rally is expected to attract supporters from across the region.

From Kitale, the convoy will move to Kiminini, a growing urban centre that has increasingly become a focal point for political engagements in the county.

As the Western Kenya tour approaches its conclusion, the United Opposition is expected to shift focus to upcoming national strategy meetings and broader coalition-building efforts across other regions of the country.

Bungoma night rally

The final rallies are seen as a crucial moment for the coalition as it seeks to maintain momentum and solidify its presence in the Western region.

This comes even as the United Opposition leaders extended a night political rally in Bungoma County, where they rallied supporters behind their agenda for governance reforms and economic transformation ahead of the 2027 general election.

The rally held on Saturday night, June 13, 2026, drew massive crowds in the Nasianda area of Bungoma County as the United Opposition leaders marked day two of their Western Region tour.

The leaders, including the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who addressed hundreds of residents gathered at Nasianda, accused President William Ruto of sabotaging the Nzoia Sugar Company.

Gachagua further declared that efforts to send Ruto must include such impromptu meetings.

Tumeshinda mchana tukilima yeye, lakini vita ya Kasongo haiwezi isha usiku. Lazima tumpangie,” Gachagua stated.

The former DP further vowed to take a front seat in ensuring Ruto serves only for one term.

Sisi tuliweka Kenya kwa shimo, na tutachangia kutoa Kenya kwa shimo…,” Gachagua reaffirmed.
