Governors want SRC to review job descriptions, salaries of their appointees
Governors have called on the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) to review the Job Descriptions and salaries of their appointees.
This was among their demands to the commission during their just concluded meeting in Naivasha, Nakuru County which converged county bosses, their deputies and various government institutions.
In a statement to newsrooms, the Council of Governors(CoG) chair Anne Waiguru also wants SRC to work with the counties to manage the gratuity and pensions of their workers as well as amend the appointment and tenure of the County Chief Officers.
“The Salaries and Remuneration Commission shall review the Job Descriptions of the Governors appointees and award salaries commensurate to their roles,” part of the statement read.
On county budgeting, financing, reporting and audit, the Council of Governors has asked the Controller of Budget and the Central Bank of Kenya to put in place an automation system by December 2022 so as to eliminate the movement of County Officers to Nairobi for clearance of payments.
They want funds disbursed on time, tracking of the flow of finances as well as putting in place working committees to develop position papers on how to handle, among others, the payment of salaries of the Early Childhood Educators and classification of development spending. The issues raised by the working
committees shall also be forwarded to IBEC for adoption.
The county bosses also vowed to appraise harmony and accountability and ensure all devolved functions are transferred to county governments.
