Get Maraga out of retirement and campaign for him – MP Amisi urges Kenyans to back former CJ for presidency

Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has thrown his weight behind former Chief Justice David Maraga for presidency.
In a statement shared via his official X account on Saturday, February 1, 2025, MP Amisi urged Kenyans to get the former CJ out of retirement, mobilize resources and campaign for him.
This, according to the lawmaker, is the key step to transforming the country.
He went on to state that Maraga is the ideal candidate to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 polls.
“If Kenyans are looking for a new start, get @dkmaraga out of retirement, mobilise resources, and campaign for him. The rest are usual political dinosaurs or representatives/scions of bourgeois status quo. They will not sell against Ruto. It must be real and believable. Renaissance!” he wrote.

Online campaigns for various aspirants have hit a fever pitch with a section of leaders from the political divide fronting their preferred candidates.
This has subsequently seen internal tensions and shift within political outfits.
So far, names fronted for the top job include former Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang’i, Wiper Party Leader Alonzo Musyoka, Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah, former CJ David Maraga, and President William Ruto.
While the names have been fronted by various political outfits and supporters, some of the potential candidates are yet to confirm their interest to contest for the top job.
Jubilee endorses Matiang’i
Recently the Jubilee Party fronted Matiang’i as their preferred candidate for the position.
In a confirmation made by the party’s Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, the Uhuru Kenyatta-led outfit affirmed that Matiang’i is the suitable candidate to unseat President William Ruto.

Kioni additionally urged supporters to register in time to vote out Ruto in the upcoming election.
“We as the Jubilee Party, we have our own candidate, Matiang’i; aende wachuane na wale wengine tuhakikishe Kasongo ameenda nyumbani asubuhi na mapema. For that to happen, lazima muanze kufanya registration, musikize maneno kwa watu na hatutaki vita,” Kioni said.
“If we all agree to come together and vote, Ruto will not win even if he appoints Kimani Ichung’wah or Kamket as IEBC Chairperson. Lazima tukubaliane kama wakenya kwamba William Ruto na watu wake wote are very wrong people for Kenya,” he added.
