Gachagua’s DCP launches training to prepare women aspirants for 2027 race
The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) has launched a nationwide training programme aimed at equipping women eyeing political office with the tools and confidence they need ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The initiative, rolled out in Nyeri County, marks the first phase of the party’s Training of Trainers campaign built around its newly unveiled Her Campaign Manual.
In its statement on Friday, December 5, 2025, the party said the campaign is designed to strengthen women’s participation in politics by giving them structured support and practical knowledge on running effective campaigns.

“Public education provides vital information that enables decision-making processes in critical moments. It is for this reason that, earlier today in Nyeri county, we rolled out our Training of Trainers campaign for our party’s newly launched ‘Her Campaign Manual’ targeting the DCP Women League,” the statement reads.
The party described the manual as a comprehensive guide crafted by the DCP Women League to help women aspirants understand campaign strategy, communication, mobilisation, stakeholder engagement and personal leadership skills.
“This powerful guide by the DCP Women League is designed to equip DCP women aspirants with the skills, information, and confidence they need as we prepare for the 2027 General Elections, and we shall train all women aspirants on the DCP Party ticket across the country,” the statement reads.

Central to women leadership
DCP said women remain central to community leadership and must be supported to take up political space at all levels.
“We strongly hold that women hold a vital role in our communities and at no point should women be left behind,” the statement adds.
The Training of Trainers model means that women leaders trained in Nyeri will cascade the knowledge to county and ward-level leaders across Kenya. According to the party, this approach ensures every woman vying for a DCP ticket receives standardised, high-quality preparation for the election period.

Party officials also emphasised that the program is part of DCP’s broader plan to build internal capacity, professionalise campaign practices and empower marginalised groups. The rollout comes at a time when political parties are restructuring and positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 polls.
DCP says it will continue conducting similar capacity-building activities in the coming months as it prepares its teams for a competitive electoral season.
