Gachagua to Ol Kalou MP: Celebrations are now over; it is time to work

In a statement on his account on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, Gachagua urged the newly elected lawmaker to immediately focus on delivering services to residents, reminding him that the victory came with the responsibility of representing the interests of the electorate.
“Campaigns and celebrations are now over and it is time to work. Always remember to listen to your people; the people who elected you,” Gachagua said.
Serve the people who chose you
The former deputy president said Waweru should settle down quickly and begin serving the people of Ol Kalou, who handed him what he described as a decisive mandate despite what he termed as government attempts to influence the by-election outcome.
Gachagua claimed that the government used billions of shillings on projects and cash handouts to sway voters during the campaigns, claiming the electorate rejected what he called “bribes and intimidation.”
The claims have not been independently verified.
“I have no doubt in my mind that you will not disappoint your constituents, having worked with me when you served the country with commitment and distinction,” he added.
DCP’S first MP
Gachagua also celebrated the win as a major milestone for the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), describing Waweru as the party’s first elected Member of the National Assembly.
“This victory is the first step in our journey towards creating a huge political party that will form the 6th Administration,” he said.
He further said DCP would continue expanding its influence through what he termed the “Green Revolution,” with ambitions of becoming the majority party in the National Assembly, Senate, Council of Governors and county assemblies.
“The DCP Party is the party of the moment and the future, which is Green,” Gachagua stated.
Waweru’s swearing-in marks DCP’s first representation in the National Assembly as the party positions itself ahead of future electoral contests.
