Gachagua rallies Gen Z, Millennials to take over leadership and retire Ruto
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called on Kenya’s Gen-Z and millennial generations to rise, take charge of leadership, and use the ballot box to transform the country.
Speaking during the DCP Youth League Forum held at the party headquarters on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, Gachagua said his mission is to empower young people to take up elective positions at all levels, insisting that the future of the country lies in their hands.
“DCP is the home of GZs and Millennials. My mission is simple: to take Kasongo home. Vijana wachukue nafasi hata nikimaliza hio kazi niende Wamunyoro nipumzike I will be happy,” Gachagua said.

He urged young people to view leadership not just as a privilege but as a responsibility to reshape Kenya’s governance. “You are the guys to deliver this country through the ballot box,” he said.
Gachagua outlined a bold plan to have Gen Zs and millennials occupy half of the country’s elective positions in the upcoming elections. He said the youth should dominate local assemblies, Parliament, and the Senate, emphasising that they have the energy, ideas, and numbers to influence Kenya’s direction.
“I want to persuade the GZs and millennials to take all the MCA seats, take half of the Parliament seats and half for the Senate. You have what it takes. Take this country and make good laws to help this country,” he stated.

The Deputy President said the party will support young people who demonstrate seriousness and commitment to public service. He announced that youth seeking nomination under DCP will be exempted from paying nomination fees, but only if they prove their dedication by enrolling new party members.
“We will have an exemption for you to pay nomination fees, but when you prove that you are a serious candidate by enrolling new members, then we will know you are serious,” he said.
Gachagua also said that nominated MCA positions in all counties will be reserved for young leaders with proven track records, particularly those who use digital platforms to advocate for the party and national issues.

“In all the counties, we will have nominated MCAs, you GZs will take half. We will give this through a proven track record. We will also check the internet, wale wanatupigania kwa internet, then we will select you to be the nominated MCAs,” Gachagua added.
He closed his speech with a rallying call: “I want GZs to take over all the posts,” he concluded
Through his remarks, Gachagua appeared to ignite a youth-driven political awakening, positioning the next generation at the centre of Kenya’s future leadership and political transformation.
