Gachagua: Planned opposition protests could last up to a month
Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has stated that the protests the united opposition is planning to stage might last for up to one full month if the issues raised are not addressed.
While speaking during an interview with Coast-based radio stations, the outspoken Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader clarified that the “mother of all demonstrations” being planned by the united opposition is not aimed at removing the current regime from power, but rather at addressing the issues bedevilling Kenyans.
He went ahead to state that the protests will be held alongside the Gen Z June 25 commemoration and will focus on the concerns that Kenyans have been raising—issues that, he noted, cannot wait until the next election cycle.

Gachagua added that the main objectives of the protests will include pushing for a reduction in fuel prices, calling for the resignation of Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, and demanding an end to goonism in the country, among other pressing issues affecting Kenyans.
Raila’s protests

He further stated that their protests will differ from those previously staged by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, noting that this time, the demonstrations will not end after engagements with the government but will continue until the issues raised are fully addressed by President William Ruto’s administration.
“Tutuhushisha kila mtu kwa hiyo maandamano ya Juni 25. Hii maandamano inakuja sio ya siku mbili ati ataita Raila waongee; hii yetu ni ya zaidi ya mwezi. “Gachagua
This comes after the United Opposition issued President William Ruto with a seven-day ultimatum to address several concerns in the energy sector, failure to which they have threatened with nationwide mass action.
Linda Mwananchi protests call

Speaking during their event held at a Nairobi hotel meant to counter the outcome of the broad-based parliamentary group meeting on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, Osotsi said the Linda Mwananchi movement, which was established by a group of rebels within ODM, works to stand with Kenyans whenever there are excesses.
“Linda Mwananchi will join the Gen Zs during their June commemoration,” he said.
