Former EALA MP Ngaru tells Ruto and Raila to help stop 2027 campaign talk

Former East Africa Legislative Assembly Member of Parliament Mumbi Ngaru has opined on where President William Ruto and Raila Odinga would fetch the best advice to steer the country forward.
Speaking on the path forward following the MoU agreement signed on Friday, March 8, at KICC in Nairobi, Ngaru opined that the two principals should turn to non-political players for advice on matters of national importance, including the implementation of the NADCO report, among others.

The former mayor contends that persons possessing no political agenda can be relied upon for their truthfulness and opinions untainted with political alignment.
Bold leaders
“What worries me is that we collectively have not had the courage to scream our problems of this county. When I stand as a politician, I speak of my people, people from the mountain, Rift Valley, etc. This is something that cut across. We have not had leaders who come out and say the truth. I hope the two of them (Raila and Ruto) and their team should address this. We are already talking of 2027, but no one talks of the truth of what hails this country, including the two good gentlemen.
“I wish they could have a team behind the scenes to tell them as it is. Most of them are uncomfortable with people who can speak that truth as it is. It should be a person who is not seeking votes in the next elections; such a person can’t be truthful to his boss or party. Most of them might not speak the truth for fear of missing nominations,” she asserted on Monday, March 10, 2025.

The ODM-aligned politician further praised Ruto and Odinga for boldly coming out to bury their political hatchet and agree to work together.
“I want to thank the principals for having wisdom and courage and coming in front of us and saying what they wanted to do and bringing the document. Odinga and Ruto being partners as they have been in the past is not something strange. It’s nothing new for my party leader to join hands and work together with other politicians. It happened with Uhuru, who was his former foe and turned out to be an ally,” she added.
