Eugene Wamalwa welcomes Sifuna, Osotsi, Amisi to DAP-K amid ODM crisis
Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa issued a warm invitation to the embattled Orange Democratic Movement leaders to join the DAP-K party following a dramatic bid to oust Nairobi’s Senator Edwin Sifuna.
In a post on his official X account on Friday, February 13, 2026, Wamalwa expressed his solidarity with Edwin Sifuna, Caleb Amisi, and Senator Osotsi after a recent fallout attempt from the Orange Democratic Party.
“We also stood in solidarity with our brothers @edwinsifuna, @Honcalebamisi, and @SenatorOsotsi in their trials and tribulations at @TheODMparty and welcomed them home to @DAP_Kenya if they were sacrificed and rendered political IDPs for standing by their principles and saying WANTAM,” Wamalwa said.

Sifuna’s fate
Meanwhile, the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) has temporarily halted the removal of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as ODM secretary general.
The ruling was made after Sifuna challenged the party’s decision to oust him as the ODM secretary general.
“That pending the hearing and determination of this instant application, inter partes, this Honourable Tribunal hereby issues orders staying the implementation of the resolution made by the National Executive Committee of the Orange Democratic Movement Party on 11th February, 2026 to remove Edwin Sifuna as the secretary general of the party,” PPDT acting chairperson Gad Gathu ruled.
It certified Sifuna’s application as urgent, ordering that the complaint and notice of motion be served on the respondents immediately.
Amisi’s removal from ODM
On the other hand, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi recently accused the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) of sidelining him through a “coup” after he was removed as the party’s Deputy Organising Secretary via a WhatsApp message.
Amisi made the claim during a press conference in Nairobi on Thursday, February 12, 2026, alongside Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and other ODM members. Sifuna had recently faced his own removal as Secretary General, which he described as illegal and unconstitutional.
“I am the second casualty of this coup. I was removed as the Deputy Organising Secretary via a WhatsApp message,” Amisi said.
He said the move violated the ODM constitution, which requires the National Executive Committee (NEC) to pass a resolution before removing any NEC member.
“You know very well that our party constitution, to remove a NEC member, it must be a resolution of the NEC. I was removed even before the NEC met,” he added.
Amisi highlighted his record in the party, noting that he has been elected twice as an MP on an ODM ticket from a region that has historically been hostile to the party.
“I’m an elected member of parliament on ODM ticket twice from a very volatile, extremely non-ODM zone. From Westlands to the border of Malaba, the only member of parliament on ODM is Caleb Amisi,” he said.
The MP described the developments as painful for those who helped build the party.
“This is a sad day. There is a time when we lost our election in 2013 and Baba declared democracy is on trial. The ODM democracy is indeed on trial,” he said.
