Embrace Kindiki as he can be president, says CS Murkomen

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has urged the Meru community and Kenyans to support Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.
Murkomen said Prof Kindiki’s success is not linked to the size of the Meru community compared to other communities.
“Jesus Christ was born by a carpenter and many despised him saying he is nothing. The challenges the people of Meru are facing are similar to what other Kenyans are facing, so why is someone lying to people to hate the government. Let’s have unity. Let us allow the deputy president and President William Ruto to deliver their promises,” Murkomen said.
“Kindiki is reaping the seeds that were planted by your elders such as Kiraitu Murungi. It is now starting to get the proper yield. It is possible for him to lead this country once we stop tribal politics.”
The CS noted he has worked closely with Kindiki since he was his lecturer in the University.
“I worked with Kindiki when he was senator and I know he is God loving. His name is Abraham, a son of Reverend Daniel. He is hardworking. He is humble. He was my lecturer. He is focused. He can’t be lured into sideshows of fighting the President,” Murkomen said.
Murkomen said Kenyans should stop being enticed to believe in propaganda spread by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
He noted that the Kenya Kwanza administration has made several development strides, adding that it will face Kenyans with a clean sheet score card.
Murkomen disputed claims that there is a sinister motive to remove Chief Justice Martha Koome from office.
“We believe in the Judiciary and I want to assure you that the government will not interfere with the Judiciary or remove Koome. I will ensure her security is tight and make sure she succeeds in her job. Don’t be deceived by those spreading propaganda,” Murkomen said.
On security along Meru North region, Murkomen said he will deploy more resources and NPR officers to create a buffer zone and curb banditry attacks.
He also drummed up support for the housing programme and asked Kenyans to continue registering for SHA.
Meru State House
Kiraitu pleaded with the residents to fully support Kindiki and the president, adding that the handshake between President Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is essential for peace and development.
“If Raila is inside the government who is deceiving you not to support the government? If you want development you must be in government,” he said.
Kiraitu said Meru people want a State House built in Meru.
Kiraitu asked Njuri Ncheke Council of Elders to ‘curse’ individuals who are planning to remove Chief Justice Martha Koome from office.
Meru Senator Kathuri Murungi expressed confidence Ruto’s government will deliver, saying he was grateful for a new sub-county established in the area.
“My job is not fighting against development or any other leader. Whoever seems to be fighting my leadership I can assure has a problem,” Kathuri said.
They spoke after opening the Abogeta Sub-County deputy county commissioner’s office.
MPs present were Kirima Ngushine (Central Imenti) Shadrack Mwiti (Imenti South), Julius Taitumu (Igembe North), Mugambi Rindikiri (Buuri), Mpuru Aburi (Tigania East) Paul Biego (Nandi), Joseph Makilab (Baringo North).
Taitumu pleaded with Murkomen to improve police patrols in the Meru North region to curb perennial banditry attacks.
“While I thank the County commissioner for efforts to fight banditry attacks, our people are still suffering. I urge you to make sure bandits are a thing of the past in Meru,” Taitumu said.
Bring development
“We plead with Ruto to bring development in Meru. Who is Gachagua to threaten the president not to set foot in Meru? Ruto has done great in creating more employment and we have faith in this government,” Mpuru said.
Kirima said there is an immediate need for implementation of the Ogongo Commission report that was to settle boundary issues between Tharaka Nithi and Meru for people to get title deeds.
Rindikiri said Meru MPs agreed to make history by uniting to fight for development and enjoy benefits from the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The Buuri lawmaker said Meru leaders are ready and will protect those working for the government and are not ready to join the opposition.
