Edwin Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi team draws huge crowds in Vihiga

By , April 25, 2026

The Edwin Sifuna-led Linda Mwananchi team pulled massive crowds of Vihiga residents during their first stop in Shamakhokho, marking the beginning of a series of rallies across the county on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

The event was further energised by media personality and MC Willis Raburu, who recently declared his allegiance to the Sifuna-led team as he eyes the Kisumu senatorial seat. Raburu electrified the crowd with his signature emceeing style, sending residents into a frenzy.

Speaking during the rally, which also formed part of Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi’s homecoming, Sifuna thanked the locals for their support, particularly following the recent incident in Kisumu that left him hospitalised at Karen Hospital.

The youthful leaders, led by Sifuna, sustained their anti-incumbency chants aimed at reminding President William Ruto that his presidency could be limited to a single term ahead of the 2027 elections.

From Shamakhokho in Hamisi Constituency, the team is set to proceed to Majengo and later to Luanda Market—Osotsi’s home area—where they will hold a prayer service as they seek divine intervention ahead of what they describe as a tough political journey.

The team is then expected to make a grand entry into Kisumu City on Sunday, April 26, 2026, for another major rally as they continue to rally support across the region.

Linda Mwanachi Kisumu rally

Earlier on, Alego Usonga MP Sam Atandi had stated that the Linda Mwananchi rally, scheduled to take place in Kisumu, will not proceed.

While speaking during an interview on the Herman Manyora podcast aired on Thursday, April 23, 2026, the outspoken budget committee chair said Kisumu residents are not interested in the rally and will not attend it.

“First of all, it will not happen, so there is nothing that will make the rally successful. The rally can only happen if the people of that area are interested in it.”

He further stated that the Linda Mwananchi team plans to import youths from various universities around Kisumu to attend their highly publicised event, as he believes the people of Kisumu are not interested in the rally.

Atandi’s claims

Atandi continued to cast doubt on the Sifuna-led rally, saying it can only be successful if it receives goodwill from the people of Kisumu—something he claimed is lacking, insisting that locals will not turn up.

“There is no mwananchi who wants to attend the rally. What I have been told is that they are organising university students from Maseno and various institutions around Kisumu. People of Kisumu are not interested in that rally.”
