Duale defends Ruto after opposition accuses him of hurling insults
Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Aden Duale has predicted that politicians will soon face the wrath of an educated electorate keen to be informed on an individual’s record on development.
Speaking in Eldoret on Monday, November 17, 2025, Duale observed that most of the country’s politics were not issue-based but attacks on individuals and personalities.
The CS also defended Ruto’s recent remarks about the opposition’s lack of an agenda for Kenyans, stressing that the remarks were far from an insult.
“The president only said that if you have an alternative vision or plan, lay it down. He demonstrated what he has achieved and challenged the opposition to show theirs. Their response has been ‘wantam’ and ‘Ruto Must Go!. It is why he says they lack an agenda, which is not an insult,” he stated.

In his remarks, Duale reminded the opposition that their criticism of the government must be based on factual merits, asserting that it was their responsibility to provide a better alternative.
“The work of opposition is to critique the government on policies, figures, and programs. Every opposition leader must have an alternative agenda to that of the government of the day,” he added.
Plan and vision
The CS concluded by stating that a section of the political class will soon face the moment of reckoning as the country enters the season of politics.
“Do not worry; by next year, they will be hearing wananchi demanding to hear from them about their plans beyond Ruto Must Go and Kasongo,” he added.

Duale’s remarks come after Ruto came under a barrage of attacks from Ukambani leaders during his visit to the region last week.
Ruto’s faces backlash
A section of Ukambani leaders has sent a stern warning to President William Ruto for disrespecting the regional leaders.
Led by Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu and Makueni Speaker Douglas Mbilu on Saturday, November 15, 2025, the politicians sent a stern warning to Ruto.
They cautioned that he would be met with an equal barrage of insults if he persisted in disrespecting other leaders by hurling insults at them.
“Mr. Ruto, if you are truly the president, please respect other leaders. If you don’t respect our leaders, we will also show you the same disrespect. You cannot stand on a podium and use it to hurl insults at other leaders,” Kavindu charged.
