Didmus Barasa slams Omanga’s bread-and-milk strategy to woo Nairobi voters
Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has criticised former nominated Senator Millicent Omanga’s recent distribution of bread and branded milk in Nairobi, linking the initiative to what he described as former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s political strategy under the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).
Taking to his X account on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, Barasa dismissed the outreach initiative as a misguided attempt to win support among Nairobi residents ahead of the 2027 General Election.

“Is this truly the pinnacle of political acumen? Rigathi Gachagua via Omanga peddling loaves of bread and branded milk as his grand strategy to court votes in Nairobi? How juvenile and utterly contemptible,” Barasa said.
Nairobi’s political approach
The lawmaker claimed the distribution drive reflected the political approach being adopted by Gachagua’s camp as it seeks to expand its influence in the capital.
Barasa further expressed confidence that President William Ruto would overcome emerging political challenges from the opposition and leaders allied to Gachagua, predicting a strong political response in the run-up to the next polls.

“Come 2027, William Ruto will dispense a masterclass in political retribution, one these raucous upstarts will rue for the remainder of their days,” he added.
Gachagua’s 2027 plan
These remarks follow the recent comments by the DCP party leader, Rigathi Gachagua, who revealed that Nairobi would form the base of his party’s growth and revealed details of a deal between DCP and Wiper for the 2027 polls.

“Mimi niseme watu ya Kariobangi asanteni sana. DCP is the party for Nairobi. Na hii ndio chanzo ya siasa yetu hapa Nairobi. Na sisi tumepangana vizuri na kiongozi wa Wiper, ambaye ndiye amekuwa akisaidia ODM hapa Nairobi,” he said.
He then outlined the specific positions agreed upon between the two parties.
“Tumekubaliana kiti cha governor kitachukuliwa na DCP. Kiti cha senator kitachukuliwa na DCP. Kiti cha Women’s Rep kitachukuliwa na DCP. Tumekubaliana na Wiper kati ya viti kumi na saba, kati ya DCP na Wiper, tutachukua viti kumi na sita. Na kati ya viti themanini na tano, between DCP and Wiper, tutachukua 75.”
