Didmus Barasa pushes back against rivals as Bungoma politics heat up
Bungoma politics took a fiery turn on Thursday, September 11, 2025, when Kimilili MP and Bungoma gubernatorial hopeful Didmus Barasa pushed back against critics who, he says, have been trying to frustrate his political journey.
Speaking at Ndivisi market in Webuye East Constituency, Barasa told residents that his rivals have been undermining him, but he remains unshaken as long as the people stand with him.
“Kuna wengine wanasema sifai kutembea bila ruhusa yao, nitaendelea kukuja na kusonga mbele. Hawa watu wananidharau, nikiwa na wananchi, wao wanasema ati sina watu, watu wa Bungoma Wako na Barasa,” Barasa said.
His message was laced with both defiance and gratitude, as he painted a picture of a leader standing firm despite attempts to clip his wings. The MP insisted that no amount of intimidation would stop him from engaging directly with the people of Bungoma, whom he credited as the backbone of his political journey.

The people versus politics
Barasa emphasised that his strength does not come from political endorsements or elite approval, but from the unity of the ordinary people who continue to support him. He reminded his critics that while they may dismiss him, the voices of the people are far louder and more powerful.
Taking to his official X account later on Thursday, September 11, 2025, Barasa praised the residents of Ndivisi for their resilience and unity. His online post celebrates what he described as a movement for transformation that is unstoppable.
“To my resilient people of Ndivisi, Webuye East, your voices roar with strength, your unity drowns out the noise of self-serving politics, and your unwavering faith in transformation lights the path forward. Together, we’re not just dreaming of change, we’re forging it, step by unstoppable step,” Barasa wrote.

The train of progress
The MP’s statement painted a vision of a community determined to rise above political rivalry and chart its own future. He thanked the people for believing in him, saying their trust fuels his determination to push for change.
“Thank you for your trust and belief in this shared vision. The train of progress has left the station, and together, we’re charging toward a transformed future at full speed!” he said.

Barasa’s defiance against his rivals comes at a time when Bungoma politics are intensifying, with various leaders vying for influence. By grounding his message on the unity of the people and the promise of transformation, Barasa positioned himself not just as a politician under siege but as a leader whose mandate comes directly from the residents of Bungoma.
