DCP dispatches election materials in Ol Kalou ahead of crucial party primaries
DCP Secretary General Hezron Obaga led the dispatch of election materials in Ol Kalou ahead of the party primaries scheduled to take place later in the day.
Nine candidates have expressed interest in seeking the DCP party ticket in their bid for the MP seat left vacant following the demise of the area MP David Kiaraho.
In a statement shared by DCP Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala on Saturday, May 9, 2026, he confirmed that the Riigathi Gachagua-led party is committed to delivering free, fair, and transparent nominations. Malala also expressed hope that the best candidate should win the primaries

“The Democracy for the Citizens Party reaffirms its commitment to free, fair, and transparent nominations. As we conduct our party primaries in Ol’Kalou Constituency today, we wish all aspirants success. May the most qualified candidate secure the party’s ticket to represent the people of Ol’Kalou.”
UDA declares a winner.
This comes moments after Samuel Muchina was announced as the United Democratic Alliance UDA winner of the primaries.
In a statement shared on X on Saturday, May 9, 2026, UDA congratulated Muchina after he emerged victorious in a hotly contested party primary held on Friday, May 8.
“Congratulations, Samuel Muchina Nyagah, on your nomination to carry the UDA flag for the Ol Kalou by-election scheduled for Thursday, 16th July 2026,” the party stated.

According to results released by the party, Muchina secured 3,221 votes to clinch the nomination certificate after edging out his closest rival, George Wambugu Kanuri, who garnered 3,077 votes.
The closely fought contest attracted ten aspirants, highlighting the high political stakes surrounding the by-election in Ol Kalou Constituency.
Other candidates included Peter Njoroge Mugo, who received 1,049 votes, Mary Nyokabi Kamau, who garnered 406 votes, Peter Chuchu Njuguna, who received 158 votes, and Maina Kiambati, who received 96 votes.
Others are Joseph Ndirangu (90 votes), Ezekiah Kamweru (66 votes), Daniel Ndungu (52 votes), and Stanley Mwangi (43 votes).
UDA National Elections Board member Jimmy Kahindi officially handed Muchina the nomination certificate during an event held at Mumbi Primary School.
Just like the UDA party DCP has also set up a conflict resolution mechanism which is set to resolve any disagreements that might arise from the excess
