Cherargei boasts UDA by-election sweep proves Ruto remains unbeatable ahead of 2027

By , May 15, 2026

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has declared that the continued winning streak of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in by-elections since the 2022 General Election is proof that President William Ruto still enjoys massive support across the country ahead of the 2027 polls.

Taking to his official X account on Friday, May 15, 2026, Cherargei said UDA’s success in the mini-polls demonstrates that Kenyans have maintained confidence in both the ruling party and President Ruto’s leadership.

“The United Democratic Alliance Party has won all the by-elections that have been held after the 2022 General Elections in Kenya. This is a clear indicator that Kenyans have absolute faith in the ruling UDA Party and the leadership of H.E Dr. Ruto,” Cherargei said.

The outspoken senator further claimed that the victories signal what awaits opposition leaders in the next General Election.

“This is the shock that will await our opponents in the 2027 General Elections,” he added.

Emurua Dikirr by-election

Cherargei’s comments come hours after UDA candidate David Kipsang Keter was declared the winner of the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary by-election after garnering 18,266 votes in the highly contested May 14 by-elections.

Caleb Gekonde, the IEBC Returning Officer for Member of National Assembly for Emurua Dikirr Constituency in Narok County, declared Keter the winner after defeating Democratic Congress Party (DCP) candidate Vincent Kibet Rotich, who garnered 10,760 votes.

Endo and Porro ward victory

UDA also clinched victory in the Endo Ward County Assembly Ward by-election in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

Dominic Leparmarai, the Returning Officer for Endo Ward CAW, declared Festus Korir Kiprop of the UDA Party the winner after securing 4,475 votes against Shadrack Kosgei Chelang’a of the NDP Party, who garnered 752 votes.

The latest UDA by-election victories come months after the party won all the parliamentary by-elections held in November 2025, the most notable being the Mbeere North and Malava constituency mini-polls.

Opposition criticism continues

The developments come amid heightened political activity and growing campaigns by opposition figures seeking to challenge President Ruto’s administration ahead of the next election cycle.

Opposition leaders have repeatedly accused the government of failing to address the high cost of living, unemployment, and corruption concerns.

However, Kenya Kwanza-allied leaders maintain that the administration remains firmly in control politically and continues to enjoy support at the grassroots level.
