Caroli Omondi unveils Linda Mwananchi’s upcoming itinerary after Thika rally
Suba South Member of Parliament (MP) Caroli Omondi has unveiled the Linda Mwananchi movement’s roadmap following its highly anticipated Thika rally slated for Sunday, June 14, 2026, as the outfit seeks to expand its footprint across the country.
Speaking during an interview on Kameme FM on Monday, June 8, 2026, the outspoken Azimio la Umoja secretary-general stated that the movement intends to intensify its engagements in the Mount Kenya region as part of a broader strategy to broaden its support base ahead of the 2027 General Election.

“Mwezi huu tuanenda kuingia Thika, mlango wa kuingia Mlima Kenya, kufanya rally kubwa, alafu baada ya hapo tutaenda Meru kutumbelea wenzetu wa Meru, alafu tutarudi Kisii na Homa Bay,” Caroli Omondi stated.
According to Omondi, the Thika rally will serve as the movement’s gateway into the vote-rich region. He revealed that the team will then proceed to Meru County, where they are expected to be hosted by former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, who recently joined the movement, before shifting focus to Kisii County.
Earlier on, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi had intimated that Kisii would have been the movement’s next stop after the historic Kisumu rally. However, following the death of the mother of Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, who is also an ally of the Linda Mwananchi movement, the group decided to shift its rally to Machakos and postpone the Kisii event to a later date.

Amisi noted that they could not hold a rally in the same area while one of their own was mourning.
Omondi further disclosed that after the Kisii rally, the movement will return to Luo Nyanza for a major gathering in Homa Bay before heading back to the Mount Kenya region for a series of additional rallies aimed at consolidating support in the area.
The legislator also revealed that Linda Mwananchi is exploring plans to rally behind a single opposition candidate in the Ol Kalou by-election in a bid to improve the opposition’s chances of winning the mini-poll scheduled for July 16, 2026. He argued that opposition unity would be key in challenging the UDA’s in-roots in the constituency.

His remarks come amid mixed signals regarding the movement’s itinerary. A few days ago, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka had indicated that after the Machakos rally, the movement was expected to head to Migori, which he then said was in 3 weeks’ time for another gathering before holding a retreat to discuss and address questions that supporters have been raising about its long-term direction and political ambitions.
Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga had also provided a different itinerary following the entry of Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter into the movement. Kalasinga stated that one of the next three rallies would be held in Nandi Hills, a region widely regarded as one of President William Ruto’s political strongholds, a move that would signal the movement’s intention to penetrate areas traditionally considered hostile to opposition politics.
Linda Mwananchi’s plans
Despite the differing schedules, Linda Mwananchi leaders have consistently maintained that the movement intends to hold rallies in all 47 counties. Particular emphasis has been placed on regions that did not overwhelmingly support former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in previous elections.
According to the movement’s leaders, a recent TIFA survey showed that Linda Mwananchi enjoys 73 per cent support among respondents compared to 23 per cent for their rivals in the Linda ground faction, figures they believe justify their nationwide mobilisation efforts.
