Ol Kalou by-election: Caroli Omondi reveals Linda Mwananchi’s strategy to partner opposition party
Suba South Member of Parliament (MP) Caroli Omondi has revealed that the Linda Mwananchi movement is exploring ways of partnering with one of the opposition parties in Ol Kalou to boost its chances of winning the upcoming by-election.
He announced during an interview with Kameme FM on Monday, June 8, 2026. The outspoken legislator added that such a move would be one of the strategies that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna-led outfit could use to gain political inroads into the vote-rich Mount Kenya region

He further emphasised that the whole Linda Mwananchi bandwagon will be present in the constituency to drum up support for the opposition candidate.
“Sasa tunapanga kushirikiana na wenzetu kule Ol Kalou. Tunataka mmoja wetu ashinde hio kiti na kura kubwa sana natutakuwa huko hata.”
Caroli’s take on ol’ Kalou minipol
His remarks come days after he appeared on a local television station and declared that President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) would not win the Ol Kalou parliamentary seat. Omondi argued that despite the ruling party’s victories in previous by-elections, which he claimed were aided by irregularities and unfair practices, it would not be able to secure victory in Ol Kalou.
He maintained that it was only a matter of time before Kenyans witnessed the outcome, insisting that the seat would not go to UDA.
Amisi camps in Ol Kalou

The developments come at a time when his fellow Linda Mwananchi, principal and Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has pitched camp in the constituency while campaigning for People’s Renaissance Movement (PRM) candidate Timothy Kariuki.
Amisi had earlier denied having any links with the PRM party despite the party carrying the word “Renaissance”, a term that has become synonymous with his political messaging. He distanced himself from the outfit but explained that party officials had approached him and borrowed the name because it aligned with the movement’s ideals.

The Saboti MP is now on his second day in Ol Kalou, openly donning PRM party attire as he popularises Kariuki’s candidature. Kariuki recently attracted national attention after arriving at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) offices riding a donkey while presenting his nomination papers.
Linda Mwananchi Opposition merger
Linda Mwananchi’s support for opposition parties in Ol Kalou appears not to be a coincidence. The development comes at a time when the movement has repeatedly expressed its willingness to work with the broader opposition.
Edwin Sifuna, who leads the Linda Mwananchi team, has previously stated that since all opposition players subscribe to the “Wantam” slogan, there is no reason why they should not form a united front against President Ruto. According to Sifuna, defeating Ruto in the 2027 General Election will require opposition leaders to approach the polls as a united force and pursue their shared Wantam dream.
Gachagua courts Linda Mwananchi.

On the other hand, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has also signalled his willingness to work with the Sifuna-led outfit. He argued that just as leaders within the United Opposition have presidential ambitions but are prepared to support a single candidate for the sake of defeating Ruto, the same principle would apply should Linda Mwananchi formally join the coalition.
