Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has declared that they will not tolerate electoral irregularities in the 2027 general election.

Taking to his X account on Monday, April 13, 2026, Babu Owino noted that they will cast their votes and wait for the result at the statehouse, asserting that they should win the election without anyone tampering with the results.

“We will vote and wait for the results at the Statehouse. We are not going to joke. We are not going to beg anybody. We are going to tell them, “Vote for me. I will work.” This is a contract. And nobody’s going to steal the election,” Owino stated.

Reflecting on past political outcomes, he noted that while late Raila Odinga was a good man who allowed several “stolen” elections to pass without confrontation, the opposition moving forward will be significantly more direct.

“You know, Baba was a baba. Baba was a very good man. His elections were stolen several times, and he just let it go. You steal our election, you find us sleeping in the state house. We will not joke with people,” Owino said.

He downplayed the logistical problems of such an action and asked directly about the short distance between the Bomas of Kenya and the State House, suggesting that supporters should be led straight there.

“You don’t even have to go to the state house. What is the distance between Bomas and the State House? Take people to the state house. So long as you have won,” Owino noted.

The power belongs to the people

Invoking Article One of the Constitution, Owino argued that sovereign power belongs to the people.

He insisted that once the people have placed a leader in office through their vote, that leader belongs in the State House, regardless of any singular person at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) trying to determine the presidency.

“Hii upuzi eti IEBC Chair now determines who becomes the president. Yes, ignore that. Go and live in the state house. The power belongs to the people. Article one.Yes, we the people,” Owino said.
