Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has cautioned aspiring 2027 candidates that financial resources and energy are more critical to winning elections than tribal support, warning that well-resourced opponents can defeat candidates even in their ethnic strongholds.

In a statement posted on his official X account on Saturday, January 17, 2026, Amisi emphasised that while having a tribe behind a candidate is an added advantage, it is not a guarantee of electoral victory.

“Winning any elections in Kenya requires Energy and some cash for swift manoeuvre. A tribe behind you is added advantage but not guarantee,” Amisi stated.

Ethnic support

The Saboti MP warned that an energetic, charismatic, well-resourced and well-networked opponent can sweep victories even in a candidate’s tribal strongholds.

“An energetic, charismatic, well-resourced and well-networked opponent will sweep you even in your tribal strongholds,” he said.

Amisi noted that this reality applies to all electoral positions, from Member of County Assembly (MCA) to governors.

“This applies to even MCA, MPs, Senator, Wrep and governors contests,” he stated.

The MP assured his followers that whenever they see him in any electoral contest, they should trust that he will have been well prepared for it.

“Whenever you will see Caleb in any contest, trust me I will have been well prepared for it,” Amisi declared.

Advice to 2027 aspirants

Amisi offered free advice to all 2027 candidates, urging them not to waste family resources in a political process they barely understand.

“All 2027 candidates have this as free advice to your win and don’t waste family resources in a political process you barely understand!” he said.

The legislator emphasised the difference between television politics and ground reality, warning candidates about the gap between media appearances and actual grassroots campaigning.

Siasa ya TV na ground ni tofauti kabisa. Don’t say I never warned you!” Amisi stated.

The MP concluded his statement by calling for a political renaissance in Kenya, suggesting the need for transformation in how politics is conducted.

“Kenya needs a renaissance!” he declared.
