Taxi hailing firm Yego Global has launched operations in Kenya through its subsidiary Yego Mobility Kenya Ltd to provide customised taxi-hailing services.

 This even as ride-hailing services are finding success in Kenya thanks to rapid smartphone adoption, reliable internet connection, mobile payments services and a drastic shift in consumer needs on the continent that values convenience.

Mobile money payment services are now natively available on many ride-hailing services, a convenience that also fuels the growth of this niche business.

The firm, however, enters the market at a time that players in the space are battling strikes and go slow from drivers. The launch follows in-depth on-ground feasibility studies over the past two years and targets addressing pain points of the driver community and passengers.  Karanvir Singh, CEO and Founder of Yego Global said that besides having the lowest commissions in the industry at 12 per cent, Yego drivers are provided personal accident insurance at no cost and medical insurance to qualifying drivers.
