As curtains fell on the 2025 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally yesterday at Naivasha’s Hell’s Gate, it’s not just the rally drivers celebrating—local vendors are also enjoying a windfall from the motorsport extravaganza.

Since Thursday, thousands of rally fans have flocked to Naivasha, providing a significant boost to businesses ranging from food stalls to accommodation services.

Among those benefiting is Teresia Wambui, a beverage vendor from Gilgil, Nakuru County, who describes the rally as a major boost to her trade.

“The weather has been mostly hot, except for some showers near Sleeping Warrior in Elmenteita. My stock of 200ml Coke, Fanta, and Sprite has been selling out every hour, likely due to the heat and affordability of the drinks. Fortunately, Coca-Cola has supported us by restocking whenever we run out,” Wambui said.

She added that she has been waking up as early as 5 am to set up at prime viewing spots, ensuring rally fans have easy access to refreshments. Another vendor Peter Mwangi from Naivasha, averred that Coca-Cola provided him with coolers and subsidised stock, allowing him to maximise his profits during the event.

“As Coca-Cola, we have partnered with KCB for this year’s WRC Safari Rally, which has been an exciting opportunity. We get to engage with our vendors outside Nairobi and offer them great deals on beverages,” said Weslene Orwoba, Senior Marketing Manager at Coca-Cola Kenya.

“The rally takes place in remote areas where shops and distribution points are scarce, so we’ve brought our trucks to them, ensuring they make good money from the event,” Orwoba added.

Beyond beverages, businesses dealing in nyama choma, alcoholic drinks, Airbnb rentals as well as hotels have also enjoyed a surge in customers.
