Nominated Senator Maureen Tabitha Mutinda has been elected to the Board of Governance of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the 2025–2027 term.

The Senate confirmed the election in an official statement, on Wednesday, October 9, saying the board is responsible for setting the strategic agenda and guiding the activities of the Parliamentary Network. Senator Mutinda will represent the East African region on the board.

“The Board of Governance is charged with the responsibility of setting the strategic agenda and providing guidance for the activities of the Parliamentary Network. The Senator will represent the East Africa region within the board,” the Senate said in a post on X.

Speaker Amason Kingi officially announced the appointment during Wednesday’s afternoon session in Parliament. He congratulated Senator Mutinda and called on fellow lawmakers to support her as she takes up the regional role.

“I have a communication to make on the election of Sen. Maureen Tabitha Mutinda, MP, to serve as a Member of the Board of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the term 2025–2027,” said Speaker Kingi.

“I take this opportunity to congratulate the Honourable Senator on my own behalf and on behalf of the Senate on her election, and urge all Honourable Senators to accord her the necessary support as she undertakes this important role on behalf of our region.”

Senator Mutinda is expected to begin her duties on October 13, 2025, during the Parliamentary engagements at the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and IMF.

In her new position, she will help shape the network’s policies on accountability, financial governance, and development. The Parliamentary Network links members of parliament from more than 140 countries, offering them a platform to discuss transparency, macroeconomic stability, and the role of international finance in development.

Global Recognition

Established in 2000, the Parliamentary Network promotes dialogue between lawmakers, civil society, and international financial institutions. It operates through a secretariat based in Paris and focuses on advancing sound governance, poverty reduction, and inclusive economic growth.

Senator Mutinda will continue to serve in the Senate while carrying out her duties on the international board.
