Nestlé unveils new 3-in-1 coffee mix in Kenya

Nestle has said it will not phase out its Nescafe 3in1 brand from the Kenyan market despite launching a similar product.
The beverage maker revealed that the two products Nescafe 3in1 and Nescafe 3in1 Creamy White will both be available in the market as the firm evaluates the reception of the new product. Nestlé launched the Nescafe 3in1 Creamy White in Kenya after what it termed as consumer backed research. Speaking to Business Hub Ng’entu Njeru, the Managing Director at Nestlé East and Horn of Africa Cluster, said the old brand will only be phased out once the new one reaches a “good distribution level”.
“We will initially run both in the market and let the consumer make the decision, we had the older brand that was in the market we will still keep it and ultimately consumers will let us know whether they want to let go of the old one and we will eventually face it out,” he said.
Njeru said the product was brought in as a way to drive the uptake of coffee in Kenya.
The coffee mix, which is packaged in Kenya, will retail at Sh15 per single-serve sachet.
“This pricing decision is informed by market data that indicates growing coffee consumption among the young urban population, which has a discerning palate and wants a quality creamy coffee that is accessible within their disposable income,” added Njeru.
