KNCCI CEO Ahmed Farah confirms exit from chamber

Ahmed Farah, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Chief Executive Officer, has announced his exit from the chamber.
In a statement dated Friday, April 18, 2025, Farah stated that he leaves the chamber proud of what he helped achieve in transforming the enhancing the business sector.
He further wished the chambers well as he considered his next steps in the business world.
“My tenure as CEO of KNCCI has come to an end. It’s been an honour to lead and contribute to Kenya’s business landscape. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved and grateful for the support of our teams and partners. Wishing the Chamber continued success. On to new chapters.” A statement from the CEO read.
Farah, an appointee of the KNCCI board of trustees, attributed a divergent of perspective between him and the Board of Directors as a factor in him leaving the role five-months after his appointment.
At KNCCI Farah worked along with president Erick Rutto, the President of Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), Mr. Mustafa Ramadhan (Chamber Vice President), and various regional directors and other key figures. The Board of Trustees, led by Mr. Kiprono Kittony.
“It has been an honour to serve in this role and to contribute to the advancement of the Chamber’s strategic mandate. Over the course of my tenure, I have been privileged to work alongside a highly committed team, valued partners, and a broad network of stakeholders, all dedicated to enhancing Kenya’s business landscape.
“As with many leadership journeys, moments of divergence can shape the way forward. In this case, differing perspectives between myself and the Board of Directors have brought my tenure to a close.
“I remain optimistic in the Chamber’s potential in promoting a resilient, inclusive, and globally competitive economy. With capable leadership and sustained collaboration, I am certain the institution will build upon its solid foundation and continue to deliver meaningful impact for the business community in the country,” his statement read.
Farah was appointed to the chamber on November 4, 2024, succeeding Patrick Nyangweso.
Speaking after his appointment, Chamber’s President Erick Rutto, lauded the appointee’s impressive track record of achievements and wealth of experience.
An expert in Trade, Investment and Development, Farah holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Kenyatta University and a master’s degree in international development from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.
He previously served as the country director for TradeMark Africa in Kenya.
