Marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge on Saturday, November 16, received a brand new D-Max truck from Isuzu Kenya with a customized number plate following his Vienna success.

Kipchoge made history in the ‘Ineos 159 Challenge’ on October 12, when he became the first human being to run a 42km race sub-two hours in Vienna Austria.

Before the race, Isuzu Kenya had promised to award Kipchoge with an Isuzu D-Max single cabin truck worth Sh4.1 million.

Isuzu lived up to the promise on Saturday at Karura Forest in an athletics-themed fete.

During the award ceremony that was preceded by a run inside the forest, Kipchoge’s face glowed with excitement.

The truck has a customized number plate, KCW 159V, with the characters 1-5-9-V denoting the marathon ‘INEOS 159’ held in Vienna.

“As I set out for the INEOS159 I didn’t know the kind inspiration that would result for my fellow countrymen,” said Kipchoge.

Eliud Kipchoge is the brand ambassador of Isuzu’s D-Max brand.
