Cables chairman Waweru final bow

St African Cables has passed away. Waweru has been a pivotal member of the board since 2017, bringing with him a wealth of experience and leadership that significantly impacted the company.

Shaka Kariuki, chairman of TransCentury PLC, praised Waweru’s invaluable contributions, stating, “His legacy will forever be etched in the history of our company and in our hearts. Under his leadership, East African Cables benefited immensely, particularly in the strengthening of systems and structures.”

Before his tenure at East African Cables, Waweru served as the Commissioner General of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) from 2003 to 2012. During his time at KRA, he was honoured with the Chief Order of the Burning Spear by the late President Mwai Kibaki, recognizing his significant role in enhancing tax collection.

Waweru was not only a key figure at East African Cables but also one of the founding members of TransCentury PLC. His influence extended across various sectors where he played a crucial role in guiding and ensuring their success.
