ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru has projected a lower cost of internet in the country, following the landing of the new Pakistan and East African Connecting Europe (PEACE) submarine Cable in Mombasa yesterday.

He said the new cable will bring faster and stable internet connectivity linking France to Pakistan via the Europe-Asia route and Mombasa Kenya through the Indian Ocean. It will provide the most direct connectivity route from Asia and East Africa to Europe, and therefore reducing communication delays between the continents.

Engineers from Telkom Company alongside Peace Cable Company successfully landed the cable at the shores of the Indian Ocean at Nyali Sun Africa Beach Hotel  and Spa.

“We are here with the CEO of Telkom Kenya and many other people from the industry to make sure that as a country we continue to attract investors in the country,” Mucheru told Business Hub in an interview.

said the new cable will be of immense benefit to Kenya and the region at this post Covid-19 era where long distant communication is increasingly becoming a norm. “The landing of this Peace cable will bolster quality communication between Kenya, East Africa and the entire continent,” he said.
