Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party is still the most popular coalition in the country.

According to a Trends and Insights Africa (TIFA) poll released on Friday, July 29, Azimio’s popularity in the country is at 47 per cent.

This is a 5 per cent increase from it’s popularity rating in the previous poll conducted in June.

Deputy President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance popularity stood at 42 per cent up from 35 per cent in June.

“Looking at the distribution of support for these coalitions across the country, it is evident that Azimio’s highest support is found in Raila Odinga’s home area of Nyanza, even as it receives considerable support in Coast, Lower Eastern and Nairobi

“Similarly, the Kenya Kwanza Alliance is most popular in its leader’s backyard of Central Rift and in Mount Kenya,” TIFA said.

Most preferred presidential candidate

The new poll showed that Raila has remained the most preferred presidential candidate with 46.7 per cent.

Ruto follows closely with 44.4 per cent while Roots Party’s Wajackoyah comes in third place with 1.8 per cent.

Waihiga Mwaure of Agano party is far behind with 0.1 per cent.

“The presence of two other candidates, Prof George Wajackoya of the Roots party and Mwaure Waihiga of the Agano party at least raises the possibility that neither Odinga nor Ruto will be able to secure an outright, first round win, though combined their total figure would probably have at least double to bring this about,” TIFA stated.

Jubilee Party was rated third most popular party with a 7 per cent rating while Wiper and George Wajackoyah’s Roots Party came at 4th and 5th position with 3 per cent and 2 per cent rating respectively.

The survey conducted between July 21 to July 26 where 2,056 respondents were across 9 regions across the country.
