Police announce normalcy in Laikipia’s Ol-Moran township

Normalcy has since prevailed in the unpredictable Ol- Moran area within the Laikipia Conservancy, with schools reopening albeit under tight security.

In a statement released by the National police service who have since confirmed that Ol Moran Township, which had been adversely affected by the recent skirmishes, has changed tune to new sounds and sights.

“Schools have returned to normalcy with children living the ultimate dream of learning and playing happily,” part of the statement read.

In the recent past, Laikipia has seen an upsurge in bandit attacks, with the most recent taking place on the night of Wednesday, September 8.

There have been perennial conflicts between pastoralists and ranchers in Laikipia County.

The clashes have left a trail of death and destruction of property in the area.

While visiting the area in July, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i blamed the herders for violent clashes with local farmers and owners of ranches and conservancies.

In his weekly engage, Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai said that a multi-agency team of security officials had flashed out the bandits who had been attacking the residents for the past weeks.

The police service promised that they will continue to provide security in the region as the residents try to rebuild their lives and businesses.
