Harambee Stars defender Nashon Alembi says he lived one of his dreams in the just ended football season, but he is certain he’s got many more to achieve.
The towering defender was a mainstay as KCB ended the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League season second only three points behind winners Tusker FC.
That successful debut season with the bankers saw the defender nominated as one of the front runners for Defender of the Year accolade after ensuring the club only conceded 23 goals for the entire 2020-2021 campaign. “It was amazing,” Alembi told People Sport.
He added: “It was something I worked really hard for from preseason until my debut and it was awesome.
I’ve always dreamed of playing and fighting for silverware for my club. We might have lost the league, however it was just something that’s unforgettable, you know?”
Besides having a solid season with the bankers, the immediate former Ushuru player also debuted in Kenyan colours, in a friendly match against South Sudan earlier in the year he also played against Togo in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications match.
“I enjoyed every bit with my teammates, I, got to know them a little more, I feel like I did really well.
I think it can only get better,” added the former Tusker, Muranga Seal and Kangemi Stars player.
With the league awards coming up tomorrow, the defender thinks it can be sweetened if he wins the ultimate award.
