Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi has launched a scathing political attack against Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, warning him that President William Ruto will eventually use him and cast him aside.

Speaking when he accompanied former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua for a church service in Buuri, Meru County, on Sunday, June 22, 2025, Linturi accused the deputy president of being a mere pawn in Ruto’s political chessboard.

He cautioned Kindiki to be wary, claiming he personally witnessed the Head of State discarding those who once served him with loyalty.

“Mount Kenya East and West, we shall not be divided. And you, Kindiki, your only role seems to be that of a person being used. I have already, and I am again, telling you he will use you and then leave you,” Linturi said.

The DCP national organising secretary insisted that his warning came from a place of experience, stating that he knew President Ruto long before Kindiki rose to the national political stage.

He argued that the current deputy president should not be naive about his standing.

“Understand me, because I knew him before you did,” he said, referring to the Head of State.

“If he could do that to us — and you are not even sure whether it was a phone number he had or just your voice — then you should know what is coming.”

Dares Kindiki

Linturi also took issue with Kindiki’s June 21, 2025, remarks, where he portrayed himself as the most influential figure in Mt Kenya politics and took aim at leaders like Linturi, accusing them of lacking vision and direction for the region.

Addressing those remarks, alongside Kindiki’s warning that he would personally confront all dissenting leaders, Linturi breathed fire, cautioning the Deputy President to steer clear of such confrontational theatrics.

Linturi dared Kindiki to make good on his threat, warning him sternly that taking such a path would be testing not only his personal restraint but also the collective patience of the Meru people.

“I heard you yesterday at the Showground saying you would come to face us. Let me see you try, then I will show you who you really are,” Linturi said.

He maintained that Meru was not open to intimidation, regardless of the government positions that individuals now hold.

“If you try it now, then you will learn that Meru has its true owners. There is nothing you can show us,” he declared.

According to Linturi, being handed government power does not equate to political supremacy.

He insisted that those from Meru are not accustomed to being given favours, but rather have always worked hard to earn their positions.

“Tread carefully. You cannot threaten us simply because you have been given the government. And even that government, you did not fight for it. We are used to struggling for things. We search for things ourselves,” Linturi said.

He further declared that his political group had already rolled up its sleeves and was waiting for the right moment to act.

He said that his camp is forging ahead, but urged Kindiki to take his warning seriously, stating that time would reveal the truth — that his words about Ruto eventually dumping him would come to pass.

“Now we have rolled up our sleeves. If you do not see it or believe it, just wait and see. You will be shocked,” he concluded.
