Molo Residents outraged by contractor ineptitude

Residents of Molo Township are demanding action against a contractor who dumped heaps of murram on roads, blocking access to their homes.
The residents want the county government to prevail upon the contractor to level the murram and make roads passable.
The problem has persisted for the past two weeks after the contractor failed to complete road leveling as part of the ongoing county Imarisha barabara programme.
Andrew Maina, a resident, expressed concern that even motorbikes can no longer access the area, further isolating communities already grappling with poor road conditions. “Why has the contractor left mounds of murram for weeks without compressing them?” Maina questioned.
“This has made the roads completely impassable, and we cannot get in or out of our homes easily,” Maina said.
Residents have raised concerns not only about the delays but also about the quality of the work being carried out under the “Imarisha Barabara” programme launched by Governor Susan Kihika.
Although the programme aims at improving the road infrastructure, residents criticised the standard of the work.
They called on area MCA Joseph Ngware to ensure the works meet the set standards.
Another resident Mathew Murimi expressed frustration over the timing of the grading project, which coincided with the start of the rainy season.
“Why did they wait until the rains began?” Murimi asked.
“The county government should have graded the roads during the dry season.”
Ngware assured residents that he would personally supervise the grading process. “Governor Kihika is committed to fulfilling her promises to the people,” he said.
